- "Excellent. In only a few months the entire city shall be mined and shipped to Europe and the colonies. Good riddance!"

Europe, also known as Evropa, was one of the world's seven continents. Comprising the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, Europe was generally 'divided' from Asia by the watershed divides of the Ural and Caucasus Mountains, the Ural River, the Caspian and Black Seas, and the waterways connecting the Black and Aegean Seas. Europe was bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and the Black Sea and connected waterways to the southeast.
History
During the Golden Age of Piracy, it was a trend all over Europe for royalty to keep a menagerie of exotic animals, and for the smart pirate, trading of parrots became a very good business.[1] Anne Bonney and Mary Read experienced everything from military service to piracy, and both were raised to act as boys so they could earn more money. Mary, disguised as a young lad, served in the army in Europe, and Anne, donning the pirate garb, fought like a true corsair.[2]
During the quest for the Shadow Gold, Captain Jack Sparrow and the crew of the Black Pearl visited Europe.[3]
During the War of Jolly Roger, at the end of the Golden Age of Buccaneers, as the armadas of Western Europe struggle to tame the wilds of the New World, the last of the great pirates of the Caribbean and their mighty ships must wage epic battles for freedom, even as they were caught between encroaching civilization and awesome power of the living myths and legends of the Seven Seas.[4][5]
By the search for the Dead Man's Chest led by Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company, Europe (named "Evropa") was drawn onto a map of the world created in the EITC headquarters in Port Royal,[6][7][8][9] along with a smaller map in the captain's cabin of the Endeavour during Beckett's war against piracy.[10]
Jean Lafite was born in France and eventually, in his later years, spent much of his time in Europe as a political philosopher of some sorts.[2]
Behind the scenes
Europe was first mentioned in the souvenir book for Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean.[2] The first in-universe mention of Europe was in the 2003 video game Pirates of the Caribbean.[citation needed] Along with being mentioned throughout Pirates of the Caribbean media, Europe was depicted and identified as "Evropa" on world maps featured in the 2006-2007 back-to-back films Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.[6][10] Europe would make its first appearance in the 2009 book Legends of the Brethren Court: Wild Waters by Rob Kidd.[3]
