"I hoarded my money for months to save for a time when I could take you and leave the Bride and your father forever. Take you someplace nice. Hispaniola, maybe. Or Boston. Or Newfoundland."
Laura Smith to Arabella Smith[src]

Boston was a city located in the Northeastern region of North America. Founded by English settlers at some point by the 1600s, it was named after Boston, Lincolnshire, England. At some point prior to Jack Sparrow's teenage adventures, Boston became an important port as well as one of many colonies governed by England, Great Britain and the British Empire.

History

When Laura Smith became a partner in crime to the infamous pirate and smuggler Left-Foot Louis, her plan was to save enough money for a time when she could leave her drunk husband forever and take her daughter Arabella someplace nice. Boston was among her planned destinations.[2]

According to Admiral Lawrence Norrington, the infamous pirate Captain Teague once stole a gaggle of geese from a wading pond outside of Boston, and later threatened members of the British Royal Navy with the same gaggle of geese.[1]

When Diego de Leon learned from a captured Spanish soldier in a hidden fort that the Spanish authorities were looking for a runaway princess Carolina, he decided to set them on a false trail by telling the soldier that she sailed away on a ship bound for Ireland, which was supposed to make a stop in New York, Boston, Maine, Canada, and Greenland.[3]

Behind the scenes

Boston was first mentioned in Rob Kidd's books Jack Sparrow: Silver,[2] and later Sins of the Father[1] and Legends of the Brethren Court: The Caribbean.[3]

Mike Stenson, president of Jerry Bruckheimer Films and an executive producer of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, was born and raised in Boston.[4][5][6] John DeLuca, an executive producer and choreographer on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, was a graduate of Boston University.[6]
