An adventure is defined as an exciting or unusual experience; it may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking, with an uncertain outcome. The term is often used to refer to activities with some potential for physical danger. The term also broadly refers to any enterprise that is potentially fraught with physical, financial or psychological risk, such as a business venture, a love affair, or other major life undertakings.

History

"It does make me sad, Jacques, to know that I must now go after the treasure of Zerzura myself. I would have been happy to use that bracelet to open the labyrinth with you at my side, to share in the adventure."
Christophe-Julien de Rapièr to Jack Sparrow[src]

To the patrons of the Faithful Bride, Arabella Smith was just the girl who filled the tankards, but she had overheard hundreds of stories and legends over the years. Behind the scenes

"Aye, there's the sound of adventure. Cannon firing. Must be a pirate force attacking the fort. Aye, there they be. A pirate galleon giving a broadside to a Spanish fort."
―Unknown[src]

Adventures first appear in the 1966 soundtrack for Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean.[2][3] They became a prominent throughout the franchise. "His adventures are famous" and "Live the adventure" being the taglines of the video games, such as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow and Pirates of the Caribbean Online.[4][5]

In the non-canon Disney Adventures magazine comic The Buccaneer's Heart!, following the defeat of the cursed crew at the hands of the spirits of the pirates of the Caribbean, the spirits ask Will Turner to lead them, with Bartholomew Roberts stating they could have glorious adventures with Will as their captain.[6]

"The Final Adventure Begins" was one of the taglines for the 2017 film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, as seen in several trailers.[7] Despite this, director Joachim Rønning stated that the film was "only the beginning [...] These kinds of movies, they remind me of the kind of movies I grew up with, those kind of adventure movies that made me want to become a filmmaker."[8]
