Randall, also known as Mop Head Randy and Redbeard Randall, was a pirate in the Caribbean who served under Captain Hector Barbossa before and after the Quest for the Fountain of Youth.

Biography

Not much is known about Randall's early life, except that he became a pirate in the Caribbean, meeting several notorious outlaws, including Captains Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa. Most of Randall's pirate career is shrouded in mystery, but it is known that he was serving aboard the Black Pearl under Barbossa at some point following Barbossa's second mutiny on the Pearl. Around that time he was known as Mop Head Randy. Randall was present when the infamous pirate Blackbeard attacked and captured the Black Pearl, but survived the battle. His whereabouts for the next few years are unknown, but he eventually rejoined Barbossa aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, serving as First Mate and becoming known as Redbeard Randall.^[1]

Behind the scenes

A pirate named Red Beard was mentioned by Jack Sparrow in Jeff Nathanson's 2013 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales screenplay draft.^[2]

Two historical pirates were known as "Redbeard", the 16th century Barbary Corsairs Aruj Barbarossa and his brother Hayreddin Barbarossa.^[3][4]
