Michael Singer is a writer and production unit publicist whose books include The Making of Oliver Stone's Heaven and Earth and "making of" books for Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin, as well as A Cut Above : 50 Film Directors Talk About Their Craft and thirteen annual editions of the pre-internet-age reference book Michael Singer's Film Directors: A Complete Guide. Singer has also contributed to the books Insight Guide : Japan, Insight Guide : American Southwest, and John Woo : Interviews. As a unit (production) publicist, Singer has worked on more than forty films, among them Black Hawk Down, The New World, Something's Gotta Give, Bruce Almighty, The Bourne Identity, Any Given Sunday, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Jerry Maguire, Nixon, Natural Born Killers, and three Batman movies.
Michael Singer was born and raised in New York City before moving west in 1979. He currently makes his home with wife, Yuko, and their daughters, Miyako and Kimiko, in both Los Angeles and Chiang Mai, Thailand.[citation needed]
For the Pirates of the Caribbean films franchise, Michael Singer was credited as the "Unit Publicist" for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest,[1] Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End,[2] Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,[3] and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.[4] Singer was also a writer of several books related to the films, including The Art of Pirates of the Caribbean,[5] Bring Me That Horizon: The Making of Pirates of the Caribbean,[6] The Art of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,[7] Jerry Bruckheimer: When Lightning Strikes – Four Decades of Filmmaking,[8] and Disney Pirates: The Definitive Collector's Anthology.[9]
