Herman was a crew member aboard the Flying Dutchman under the command of Davy Jones around the time Lord Cutler Beckett assumed control of the Flying Dutchman and its crew.

Biography

At some unknown point in his life, Herman found himself serving aboard the Flying Dutchman under Davy Jones. He was encrusted with barnacles and shedding fish scales and he had a hapless, toothless look.^[1]

Herman fought in the Battle of Calypso's maelstrom, during which he swung aboard the Black Pearl and dueled Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann during their impromptu wedding ceremony. Herman lunged at Will, but the latter stabbed him before Elizabeth kicked him over. By the time Swann and Turner kissed, Herman was fighting another pirate, dueling him in sword combat. Following the death of Davy Jones and Will Turner's inauguration as captain, Herman likely reverted back to his human form.^[2] His further fate is unknown.

Behind the scenes

Herman first appeared, albeit unidentified and uncredited, in the 2007 film Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.^[2]
